Summer Lovin' Reads/Math Initiative
At FLACS 2, we believe that summers are a time for learners to be surrounded by the richness of language, literacy, and math. Therefore, we wanted to use summer 2019 to continue our successful "Summer Lovin' Reads/Math initiatives". During this summer, students will be reading a shared text(s) depending on their grade for the upcoming school year. In addition to reading the novel, students will answer response questions about their texts. Lastly, as students culminate their reading, they will each have to create a project(s) based on their text.
WHAT STUDENTS NEED TO BE SUCCESsFUL:
One Composition Notebook
Access to Technology
In the summer of 2019, all FLACS scholars will receive math journals that should be completed throughout the summer. The journals will allow students to complete one complex word problem or activity three times a week: ideally Monday's, Wednesday's, and Thursday's. Each problem is based on our math curriculum,"Math in Focus" and the national math standards.
